Who we are

YouBeYou – Ngāmotu Theatre for Youth is a vibrant amateur theatre club in New Plymouth, Taranaki, proudly operating under the charitable umbrella of YouBeYou Aotearoa.

Our mission is to build a membership‑based community where education, creativity, and social development thrive through musical theatre and dramatic performance.

Three dynamic sections for every stage of growth:

  • Junior (10–14 years) – discover theatre, build confidence, and learn new skills

  • Senior (15–21 years) – develop leadership, performance, and backstage expertise

  • Adults (22+ years, young at heart) – mentor, guide, and share creative passions

This progression model ensures every member can grow in confidence, develop skills, and step into leadership as they move through their theatre journey.

More than the stage Theatre is about collaboration both onstage and behind the scenes. Adults play a vital role in mentoring youth and supporting creative disciplines such as directing, musical direction, choreography, sound and lighting, set building, stage design, costume, wardrobe, and more. Succession planning and education are the heartbeat of our ethos.
